What is RSS?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It's a format that allows websites to automate the distribution of their content. This web content takes the form of a "feed" which offers the latest news, stories, or just the important headlines of the day. For you, that means the ability to gather new content from your favorite sites in one location. Even better, subscribing to RSS feeds is completely free.

Reading RSS content

To receive RSS feeds, you must use a content aggregator. Aggregators work much like email programs. But instead of gathering incoming email, they gather incoming RSS feeds from websites you subscribe to. Some of the popular aggregator programs and online services are Yahoo!, Newsgator, Bloglines, and iTunes. And just like the feeds themselves, content aggregators are also free.
