SAFETY

More than style, more than performance, it's your well being that drives us.

Prevention
When it comes to Pontiac vehicles, style and performance are our hallmark—but if there's one thing we take just as seriously, it's safety. We instill it into everything we do—from initial engineering through the build process to the final product.

We take a great amount of pride—not to mention the energy and planning we put forth-to ensure that our vehicles and their passengers are safe.

    ALL-WHEEL DRIVE
For added all-weather performance, all-wheel drive delivers torque to the rear wheels in case of front-wheel slippage and helps maintain a balanced driving power when agility is needed most.

    STABILITRAK®
With one of the world's most advanced vehicle dynamic control systems, your vehicle's response to steering input is constantly monitored. When needed, StabiliTrak applies brakes individually or modulates the throttle to help you get back on track and maintain your vehicle's composure.

    DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER
With the Driver Information Center, whether electronic or analog, numerous on-board systems are monitored, and you instantly receive information, so you always know your vehicle's status.

    HALOGEN HEADLAMPS
These impressive halogen lamps are brighter than sealed beam units, so they illuminate more of the road for better vision. Plus, they include flash-to-pass feature and Twilight Sentinel.

    DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS
Daytime Running Lamps are reduced-intensity lights. During the day, they make your vehicle easier to see by other drivers and pedestrians.

    TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING
Tire pressure loss often occurs gradually and without the driver noticing. The tire pressure monitoring system alerts you of air pressure loss in any of the tires (except the spare) with a warning indicator on the instrument panel or a message displayed on the driver information center-plus it gives you audible warnings, so you'll always know when to check your tires. Does not apply to spare tire.

    AUTO-DIMMING REARVIEW MIRROR
You don't have to tilt your rearview mirror to avoid the glaring lights from vehicles behind you anymore. Our rearview mirror automatically darkens using high-tech sensors and advanced circuitry, which recognizes and reduces rear-approaching light to help you avoid eyestrain and driver fatigue.
Protection
If a collision should ever occur, we've taken steps to help keep you and your passengers protected. Because your safety is important, each one of our vehicles is engineered with numerous occupant-protection safety features. From a steel cage body to numerous air bags to 3-point safety belts, our vehicles are designed with your safety and well-being at the forefront.

    AIRBAGS
In these demonstrations, we've illustrated the deployment of the dual-stage frontal air bags† and side-impact air bags† for driver and front-right passenger as well as head-curtain side air bags† for front and outboard rear occupants.

    SAFETY BELTS
3-point steel safety belts are standard for all positions. Front seat safety belts have pretensioners which cause the safety belts to tighten to reduce belt slack in crashes severe enough to deploy the frontal air bags.

    LATCH FOR CHILD SEATS
The Lower Anchors and Top tethers for CHildren (LATCH) system is standard on all models to securely attach your child's car seat.

    ADVANCED SAFETY: SAFETY CAGE CONSTRUCTION
The safety cage surrounds the passenger compartment and is designed to help maintain occupant space in a collision. Front and rear crush zones are also engineered to help absorb and channel impact energy.

Assurance
Even with the prevention and protection features, our safety measures don't just stop there. That's why we offer OnStar*** to assist you in anything you might need such as step-by-step accident guidance and a link to emergency services. We want you to know our concern for your safety doesn't end at impact.

*** Always use safety belts and proper child restraints even with air bags. Children are safer when properly secured in a rear seat in the appropriate infant, child or booster seat.

† OnStar services require vehicle electrical system (including battery), wireless service and GPS satellite signals to be available and operating for features to function properly. OnStar acts as a link to existing emergency service providers. OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics available on most 2004 MY and newer GM vehicles. Diagnostic capability varies by model. Visit onstar.com for system limitations and details.

†† Head curtain air bags are designed to help reduce the risk of head and neck injuries to front and rear seat occupants on the rear side of certain side-impact collisions. Always use safety belts and proper child restraint, even with air bags. Children are safer when properly secured in a rear seat. See the owner's manual for more safety information.
